November 18, the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Chennai hosted a panel discussion “BRICS: Economic Growth for the Innovative Future”, dedicated to the results of the 11th BRICS Summit in Brazil. The event was organized by the RCSC together with the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in South India.
The welcoming address to the participants was given by Mr. Gennadii Rogalev, Director of the RCSC in Chennai.
The Consul of the Russian Federation Mr. Anton Chernov, noted that “Starting on January 2020, Russia will chair BRICS Russia. Motto for its presidency will be BRICS Partnership for Global Stability, common security and innovative growth. We plan to hold 150 different events on different levels. During its presidency, Russia will pay certain attention to expanding foreign policy coordination between our states on key interest platforms primarily at The UN where the BRICS countries have good experience of interaction.
Other experts who spoke at the panel discussion were: Mr. Muthu Kumar, Editor of “Trinity Mirror” and President of “BRICS Generation”, Mr. Ganapathi, President of the South Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Veeramani, President of Indo – Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of Gem Granite Group of Companies, and Prof. Dr. Aarthi Santhanam, Head of the Dept. International Studies, Stella Maris College.
At the end of the program, speakers answered numerous questions from the audience.
The event was attended by the students of the Faculty of International Studies at Stella Maris College, as well as representatives of public and cultural organizations of the city.
