Various activities have been within the framework of the International project “Russia – love without borders”. The latest project is dedicated to the most beautiful spring holiday 8 March – International Women’s Day.
A meeting of compatriots living in Chennai was held on March 8. The event was organized by the association of compatriots with the support of the RCSC.
This time compatriots decided an 80s theme costume party. The style of 80’s was usually associated with a vibrant disco look, glamorous outfits for women and bright make-up. On that evening, all participants tried to create the relevant fashion statement. For the festive table women prepared different dishes which were usually cooked in their families in Russia. Everyone enjoyed watching the movie "The Most Charming and Attractive" — the Soviet feature film of 1985, directed by Gerald Bezhanow with Irina Muravyova in the leading role.
Ms. Bhavatharini also participated in the evening. She is an Indian Singer and music director and daughter of legendary film composer Ilaiyaraaja. Mr. Mikhail Gorbatov, Director of the RCSC wished everyone on the holiday and presented a festive memento.
The holiday ended in a warm and friendly atmosphere. All the compatriots received festive gifts.
A joint event with “Probus” club was held on March 9. The program was attended by Mr. R. T. Namasivayam, President of club, Mr. G. N. Tharaka Ram, Secretary of club, Mrs. Indira Hande, President Inner Wheel club, Dr. Nirmala Subramanian, Professor Emiritus-Oculoplastic Servery, Sankara Nethralaya, and Mrs. Praveena Solomon, Caretaker of Crematorium as well as prominent social activist, club members, representatives of business and cultural circles of Chennai. The evening was full of kind words of congratulations towards women. The speakers noted that women today, working in various spheres - state, public, industrial, cultural - make a significant contribution to the development of our countries and at the core of their activities there is always a desire for peace and prosperity. In solemn atmosphere they held an award ceremony of memorable diplomas and gifts for the women who made significant contribution to the social and cultural activities of the city and the country. Many of them already are on deserved rest, but the active living position, aspiration to participate in public affairs doesn't allow them to spend free time staying at home.
On March 14, the traditional self-defense program for women was organized together with the Indo Russian IT Association. Master Shihen K. Lakshmanan Black Belt 7th Dan wado-Kai Karate School of India, conducted a master class on self-defense for students of Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute. He also explained to the students how to reduce the risk of falling into conflict situations and behavioural algorithms in the occurrence of conflict situations of various degrees of threat to life. All participants of the master class were awarded with certificates.
