On 25 January, the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Chennai hosted a program dedicated to the XXIX World Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk. The event was timed to the student Day in Russia and organized by the RCSC together with the Indian Institute of sports medicine.
The highlight of the event was the opening of the thematic photo exhibition dedicated to the Universiade. The photographs were provided by the information agency “Sputnik”*.
In his welcoming speech Mr. Gennadii Rogalev, Director of the RCSC spoke about the upcoming winter Universiade in the city of Krasnoyarsk (March 2-12, 2019). The guests of the evening were told about the logo and mascot of the competition, and have shown the official videos of the Universiade.
The event was attended by Dr. V. Mangaiyarkarasi, Professor and Head of Department of Sports Psychology and Sociology, Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai, Dr. Kannan Pugazhendi, Chairman of Indian Institute of Sports Medicine and Sports Physician and Mr. Daniel Amalan, Associate Professor of the Sports University. In their presentation, they spoke about winter sports, about its development in India and the achievements of the Russian athletes in the winter disciplines.
At the end of the program, Mr. A. Gafarov, Officer in charge of the scientific and technical programs at the RCSC spoke about the history and traditions of the celebration of Student Day in Russia.
The students from the sports institutes and other universities in Chennai attended the program.
