Inauguration of Art Exhibition “Russian Atlantis – 2017” at the RCSC in Chennai

On December 5, Russian Centre of Science and Culture hosted an inauguration of Art Exhibition “Russian Atlantis – 2017”, organized by the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Chennai together with the Saint-Petersburg Centre for Humanitarian Programs. The event was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and India.

The opening ceremony of the Art Exhibition was attended by Ms. Yulia Antonova, Vice Consul of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in South India, Mr. Vitaly V. Vasilyev, President of the Saint-Petersburg Centre for Humanitarian Programs and Ms. Irina Deshevskaia, Curator of the exhibition. Representatives of creative circles in India, diplomatic corps, clubs and associations at the RCSC, compatriots, students of Russian language courses, as well as art and painting lovers came to see the works of modern Russian masters.

The exhibition presents graphic works painted by Russian artists participating in the project "Russian Atlantis - 2017". The exhibition included the paintings of orthodox monasteries, temples and amazing beauty of the nature from the Russian province.

All works are done are unique, with the author's individual mood transmitted in chiaroscuro technique and different color saturations.

The initiator and organizer of the project, Mr. Vitaly Vasilyev, in his address said that “Russian Atlantis – 2017” popularizes the classical trend in painting and graphics, which serves to preserve the traditions, the faith of the Great Russian culture.

The main objective of the project is to involve as many artists as possible from both Russia and foreign countries in working together to expand the theme of the universal cultural value of small towns in Russia, unique monuments of history and culture, located on the sidelines of major Russian tourist destinations.

The art exhibition “Russian Atlantis” introduced the visitors to Russian culture, and revealed the depth of the Russian people’s soul, traditions and value systems.

The exhibition in Chennai will run until December 13.

Earlier the exhibition was in New Delhi, and after Chennai it will be in Mumbai.
