Russian universities to conduct online classes for 1st-year students in India

“Russian universities are all set to conduct online classes for students in India who enroll in their undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the 2020 academic year. The online classes are scheduled to start from September - October this year and may continue throughout the first year, owing to the international travel restrictions during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic,” announced the Russian university officials, speaking at an online press conference of Russian universities on August 21.

The press conference was organized by the RCSC in Chennai in cooperation with Study Abroad Educational Consultants for the leading media in South India. Mr. Oleg Avdeev, Consul General - Russian Federation in Chennai, Mr. Gennadii Rogalev, Director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Ms. Natalia Alshuk, Vice-Chancellor for International Students Program and International Relations, Volgograd State Medical University, Dr. Timur Akhmetov, MD. Ph.D., Vice Dean of Foreign Students Education, Kazan State Medical University, Mr. Sergei Titov, Administrator of the “General Medicine” International Educational Program, Far Eastern Federal University, Vladivostok and Mr. Ravichandran C., Managing Director, Study Abroad were the speakers at the press conference.

"Russian education fully meets the highest international standards, and the knowledge gained by Indian graduates of Russian universities becomes a good basis for successful employment in India at the best public and private companies," noted Mr. Oleg Avdeev.

The Director of the RCSC drew the press's attention to the possibilities of students receiving free higher education in Russian universities within the framework of the quota allocated annually by the Government of the Russian Federation for Indian citizens. “This year, eighty-seven Indian citizens received a scholarship for free education in Russian universities. Fourteen of them were from South India,” said Mr. G. Rogalev.

Mr. Ravichandran spoke about the advantages and relevance of Russian higher education in India. “Currently, there are about 15,000 Indian students studying at Russian universities,” he said.

Representatives of Russian universities told in detail about the process of training, terms and conditions of study in Russia.

In the near future, RCSC and Study Abroad are planning to hold a series of webinars for Indian citizens with the participation of representatives from Russian universities, during which potential students will be able to directly ask questions regarding studying in Russia.
