May 25, 2019 The Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Chennai celebrated the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture by conducting an open lesson of Russian language for the Indian students.
Ms. Ketaki Chandrasekar, representative of the RCSC made a speech on the origins of Slavic literature and its founders, Saints Cyril and Methodius, as well as mentioning the importance of Russian language in the modern world.
The speech was followed by the video about Russia and its sights, Russian culture and traditions.
Then Ms. V. Maiorova, head of the Russian language courses, held a Russian language lesson during which she taught alphabet, words of greetings and farewells in Russian, in addition she explained the basic rhythmic language models. By the end of the lesson the audience could participate in short conversations and read the simple Russian words.
At the end, the students who successfully completed the elementary course of the Russian language program shared their impressions of the Russian language classes and in Russian told about themselves and their families.
The open lesson was attended by more than 40 people.
