“Garden of Remembrance” action took place in Chennai

An International action “Garden of Remembrance” took place in Chennai on June 11, in the run-up of the National Day of Russia. It was dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The action was organized by the RCSC, Chennai on the territory of the Christ Church Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School. Mr. Gennadii Rogalev, Director of the RCSC, Chennai, Mr. Eugeny Suzdaltsev, Attaché of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Chennai and Dr. P.Rajah Prabhakaran, School Board Vice Chairman, and other school employees participated in the ceremony of planting the trees. All participants of the action received St. George’s Ribbons.

Two teak and one breadfruit tree in memory of those who died during the Great Patriotic War were planted in the alley near the Christ Church, which was built 178 years ago. “Today we are planting trees in this memorial garden in memory of soldiers and civilians who died in the struggle against the Nazis during Great Patriotic War”, said Mr. G. Rogalev, director of the RCSC in Chennai. Dr. P.Rajah Prabhakaran congratulated everyone on the upcoming holiday - Russia Day and thanked for holding the action “Garden of Remembrance” on the school territory.
