The Victory Day celebrated in Chennai with the broadcast of the concert “75 songs of the Great Victory' and other online activities

May 9, the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War celebrated in Chennai. Celebrations were organised despite a ban on mass gatherings and quarantine measures taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Considering the situation in the region, all the events were held in an online format on the RCSC's Facebook page. This year, the action 'Immortal regiment' with the slogan 'Our Victory is my history', was attended by the 35 compatriots living in the cities of Southern India. For the first time, compatriots from Hyderabad took part in the action. A video with photos of relatives, participants of the Great Patriotic War, was posted on the Facebook page of the RCSC. The main highlight of the celebration was the broadcast of the concert '75 Songs of the Great Victory' performed by the musicians of the Saint-Petersburg Taurida Orchestra, which was organized by the RCSC in Chennai with the support of the TV BRICS channel. More than 500 people watched the concert online. A lot of positive feedback from the local audience was also received for the campaigns “Six o’clock in the evening after the war” and “Victory with Poetry”, through which Indian citizens shared their impressions after watching Soviet and Russian films about the Great Patriotic War, and read/sang war songs.
