Indian students get acquainted with Russian military poetries dedicated to the Great Patriotic War

February 21, the Russian Centre of Science and Culture hosted the Defender of the Fatherland Day program. Its key event was the inauguration of “Love and Courage/poems and lyrics” exhibition within the framework of celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The event demonstrated military poetry and lyrics accompanied by their translations into English.

The event was attended by the students from Loyola and Stella Maris colleges. Lt. Col. Jayakumar, a veteran of the Indian Army was the Honourable Guest of the Program.

At the inauguration ceremony Mr. Gennadii Rogalev, Director of the RCSC congratulated the guests with the Defender of the Fatherland Day and told the audience about the history and tradition of this holiday in Russia.

 Then the guests of the inauguration enjoyed the presentation based on the letters and poetry about love and faithfulness, written by the Russian poets during the Great Patriotic War. The students of the Russian language courses presented famous poems like “Wait for me”, “Dark is the Night”, “Return”, and “Narva gate was behind us”.

Lt. Col. Jayakumar in his talk with the young guests of the exhibition noted that profound notions like patriotism and courage are always clear for everyone who loves his country and family.

At the event, the students had a chance to hear from the primary source about the profession of a military man, about the heroism and courage. The talk was interactive and interesting.
