January 29, the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Chennai hosted the screening of the documentary film “My Siege” by Russian Director Olga Antropova. The event was prepared by the RCSC in cooperation with the Madras Film Society. The screening held within the programs of the RCSC to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and was dedicated to the 76th anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad from the Siege.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Gennadii Rogalev, Director of the RCSC and Mr. V. Subashchandran, General Secretary of Madras Film Society. In his speech, Mr. Subashchandran spoke about the Siege of Leningrad - the most terrible siege of the city in the history of mankind, which claimed more than one and a half million human lives.
Also, as a part of the event, the guests were presented with an exhibition of works by Russian photographer Alexander Novikov “Leningrad Siege: The Grief Forever”.
